Food Assistance Programs
If your family needs assistance with getting nutritious food in addition to school meals, the following community and government resources may help. These resources are not part of Durham Public Schools.
Local food pantry and community meal sites

Visit End Hunger Durham's Food resources page for lists of Durham food pantries and sites offering no- cost hot meals. There is also a link to an interactive map that will help you find the closest food pantry, farmers market or grocery store that takes food benefits and kid’s summer meal sites.

WIC

WIC, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five. Farmer’s Market Double Bucks Program
-
Those who participate in SNAP, WIC, the Section 8 housing program or live in Durham Housing Authority sites can receive double bucks at 3 of the Durham Farmer’s markets. This program doubles your dollars to spend on food. For example, if you have $10 cash you will get to spend $20 at the market.

You can pay with cash, EBT, WIC vouchers and Senior Farmer’s market nutrition program vouchers. Visit the info tables at the markets to begin doubling your bucks.
