About Safety and Security
The Safety & Security Division plans, coordinates, and implements measures to keep all DPS schools/ central offices safe. The division oversees security, safety, and emergency management for the entire school district while also serving as the liaison to law enforcement and other emergency response agencies. This encompasses surveillance cameras, burglar alarms, door access, security equipment, and vulnerability assessments. Safety & Security works closely with law enforcement to maintain an effective presence of School Resource Officers (SROs) and other law enforcement support on school campuses.
You may contact our office by phone 919-560-3607 or fax 919-560-2693.
School Resource Officers (SRO)
SROs partner with and are assigned to secondary schools. Their primary duties are to enforce the law, act as a resource with respect to delinquency prevention, provide guidance on law-related issues, provide individual counseling to students, and to explain to students the role of law enforcement in society.
