Ignite! is an online school that utilizes a blend of synchronous (live zoom classes) and asynchronous learning (navigating through our platforms to complete coursework). Middle and High School families who choose this option for their student have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities and athletics through their base school. Students will be assigned a Chromebook laptop and hotspot (if needed) as part of their enrollment in Ignite! Online Academy. See more about Ignite! by viewing the Ignite! Snapshot. Online learning works best for students who are excited to work independently, take ownership of their learning, and pace themselves through courses.
Students are expected to complete the majority of their assignments during asynchronous learning time. This means they will be expected to keep up with assignments outside of live classes and attend office hours if they need additional support from their teacher.
All Ignite! scholars will need access to a “learning coach” at home. The learning coach is a supportive family member or community mentor who is an advocate for their student and can dedicate time during the day to assisting the student as needed. We expect our youngest students (grades K-2) to have consistent learning coach support throughout the school day. All students will need at least daily check-ins with increased frequency as needed depending on your child’s needs. Ignite! teachers will need the contact information of an adult that can be reached during the school day for immediate communication should the need arise.
