Students who graduate from a CTE program may choose to go directly into a career, but others may wish to pursue further education in their chosen field through community colleges, technical schools or four-year colleges and universities. Whatever they select, CTE students have a jump on their college and career paths.

Earn College Credit While In High School

The North Carolina High School-to-Community College Articulation Agreement allows students to take courses in high school and receive credit at Durham Technical Community College. To receive credit, students must:

• Earn a B or higher in the high school course, and
• Earn a scale score of 93 or higher on the standardized CTE post-assessment, and
• Enroll at the community college within two years of their high school graduation date.

High school students may also earn college credit by enrolling in Career and College Promise. This program provides seamless dual enrollment educational opportunities for eligible North Carolina high school students in order to accelerate completion of college certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees that lead to college transfer or provide entry-level job skills. Students may choose from the following pathways:

• Career and Technical Education Pathway (CTE)
• Core 44 College Transfer Pathway (CT)
• Cooperative Innovative High School Pathway (CIHS)

Durham Technical Community College

Durham Tech offers dozens of Programs of Study leading to associates degrees, diplomas, or certificates. Those wishing to continue on to a four-year college or university may complete college transfer requirements at Durham Tech.
