Enjoy day camps that combine enrichment activities with traditional recreational opportunities! Sports, games, field trips and crafts combine with interesting learning themes to create an exciting summer. Camps are licensed by the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education. The well-rounded summer experience includes academic enrichment, science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM).
Students will participate in field trips during the summer at no additional charge. Students are transported in Durham Public Schools' activity buses by approved bus drivers. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Students will need to bring a healthy afternoon snack.

2024 Summer Camp Information
Traditional camps for rising 1st – 6th graders
Dates: June 17 - August 2, 2024
Hours: 7:00am - 6:00pm
Summer Camp Family Orientation will be held on Sunday, June 2nd, at 3:00 p.m. at each school.
Camp 4 Rising K:
Camp 4 Rising K is a summer camp opportunity for RISING kindergarten students. Campers must be five years old by August 31, 2024.
Dates: June 17 - August 2, 2024
Location: Bethesda Elementary
Summer Camp Family Orientation will be held on Sunday, June 2nd 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethesda Elementary.

Week 2
Game Show Mania: Campers will participate in a variety of game show activities in a competitive setting. Activities will focus on teambuilding and collaboration with game show questions in Math, History, Science, Current Events, Music etc.
Mission Impossible: Campers use their five senses to work through various missions with their team to uncover treasures. Activities will include escape rooms, secret decoder messages, treasure hunts, etc. Community partners from Mad Science will add to the festivities with action-packed experiments; fun for all ages!!!!
Music Mayhem: Campers will learn dance techniques from different cultures in addition to various forms of music. Campers will have an opportunity to showcase their talents at the Summer Camp Talent Show!!
Gazing Into Starlight: Campers will learn about our solar system through hands-on creative activities. Your child can pretend to be an astronaut as he learns about outer space.
International Cuisine: Campers will travel the globe to try foods from different cultures to expand their knowledge of food and gain an appreciation for other cultures through the creation of edible art. Community partners, DINE, and Durham County Cooperative Extension will be onsite to teach campers how to prepare healthy meals and snacks their families will love!!
Waterworks: Campers will learn about water conservation, creating watersheds, and wastewater treatment through various hands-on creative activities. Waterplay activities will add to the fun of waterworks!!
Sports Extravaganza: Campers will learn sports techniques to help them develop team building and collaboration skills while having fun. Summer Olympics will highlight the student’s fitness goals where all students can enjoy a fun-filled morning of sports competition.
Registration
There are a limited number of students accepted for each camp. One camp t-shirt is included in your registration fee and will be available at the family orientation session. A registration fee of $35 is charged per child per summer. The registration fee is not refundable. If you withdraw from camp, please provide us with a written notice three weeks in advance to avoid being charged a $140 cancellation fee (the equivalent of a full-price one-week fee). Fees are due upon registration. We regret that we cannot accept registrations from families with overdue Community Education accounts.
