On behalf of the faculty and staff of Josephine Dobbs Clement Early College High School, it is my distinct honor and pleasure to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year. Each student in our school has been afforded the opportunity to participate in this program because we believe that each of them is capable of great things given the proper support and opportunity.

We are looking forward to the challenges and certainly the exciting opportunities that this new school year presents to all of us. We have a great year before us and I know that each of you will partner with us in the coming months.

 Vision Statement

The vision of Josephine Dobbs Clement Early College High School is to create a nurturing environment where excellence is the norm. Our school will be a leader in education innovation through shared planning, decision-making, and research in educational pedagogy.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Josephine Dobbs Clement Early College High School is to provide expanded learning opportunities for students, offer students a rigorous curriculum including college courses leading up to two years of college credit, and provide in-depth support for students in those rigorous academic classes.

Philosophy

Early College High Schools are small high schools from which students may leave with sufficient college credits to enter a four-year, liberal arts program as a junior. Early College High Schools focus on students for whom a smooth transition into post-secondary education is challenging: low-income students, minority students, English Language learners, and first-generation, college-bound students.

 Teaching

The school's small size (approximately 400 students) will provide the opportunity for individualized instruction. Students will graduate with a high school diploma, plus up to two years of college credit toward a bachelor's degree. By creating a structure in which the high school years are compressed with the number of years required to receive college degrees, the Early College High School will be centered around improving graduation rates and better preparing students for entry into high-skills careers. 

The Early College High School is also designed to substantially increase the number of minority and female students who will pursue advanced studies and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
