Family Resource Closet
The Family Resource Closet is available for identified DPS students to come and shop for clothes/shoes, hygiene items, laundry detergent and school supplies. It is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. Please call before arriving. Our office is located at 808 Bacon St Durham, NC 27707
Each identified DPS student can shop for 3 outfits (top and bottom) and 1 pair of shoes. We also have underwear/socks available. Students can shop twice during the school year.
Holton Career & Resource Center
- 1st and 3rd Friday of every month they have a foodbank on the 2nd floor from 10 am to 1 pm
Durham Entry Point
- For approved Rental/security deposit assistance, please call Durham DSS Opening Doors at 919-560-8000
- For those homeless and at risk of homelessness, please call Durham Entry Point at 984-287-8313. Hub for all shelters in Durham County.
- Durham Entry Point will be able to assess your situation and provide direction for relevant resources.
- Please be aware that calling this number does not make you eligible for an Emergency Housing Voucher but Entry Point can screen you for general assistance.
Housing for New Hope/Street Outreach (919) 489-6282
- Housing for New Hope’s Street Outreach team is the City of Durham and Durham County’s lead agency for outreach and engagement to the unsheltered homeless population.
- Assists clients with the transition from unsheltered homelessness to emergency shelters
