As of 2016, DPS’s Energy and Sustainability is working
towards phasing out the most inefficient lighting in the district by beginning
a district-wide LED lighting project. The new lights are already featured in
Glenn, CC Spaulding, and EK Powe.
Energy and Sustainability is also launching the United for
Savings energy conservation program beginning with the 2016-2017 school year.
The program aims to get easy-to-follow tips out to all staff in an effort to
reduce DPS’s utility spending and spark energy conservative attitudes among
school staff and students.
Saving energy is easy! But it begins with being cognizant of
your energy usage both in the classroom and at home. Becoming informed and
sharing these tips with your students will boost their responsibility for
environmental stewardship and help you to become an environmental champion in
your everyday life!
