The Computer Programming, Engineering, and Drone Operations (CED) curriculum is designed to provide high school students with essential 21st Century skills. The program is suited for students interested in pursuing careers in engineering, engineering technology, drone career fields, and computer science or related science fields. The CED curriculum introduces students to the scope, rigor, and problem solving found within the engineering discipline. It covers a broad range of topics, such as global challenges, digital electronics, computer integrated manufacturing, civil engineering, engineering design and modeling, as well as architecture, aerospace, and biotechnical engineering. Academy courses also include drone operations and certification, LED set-up and repair, and Python programming. The Code.org and Amazon (Project STEM) curriculum focus on Programming, algorithms, the internet, big ideas, digital privacy and security, and the societal impacts of computing. Students will learn computational thinking and develop the ability to solve complex problems. This course prepares students for further studies in computer science, including the AP Computer Science Principles course.
