Testing is an important part of teaching and learning because it gives us an opportunity to see what each student has learned, retained and can apply during an examination. Students are tested at various times throughout their academic careers -- the majority of exams take place at pre-determined periods to test knowledge obtained during specific grades or in specific subjects. There also exist exams required to graduate and others required for applying for and entering college.
Here you will find information about state testing requirements, college entry exams, preparatory courses for students and other supports.
Specific questions about testing and exams in Durham Public Schools can be addressed to Dr. Julie Spencer, assistant superintendent for Research and Accountability, at 919-560-2027 or julie.spencer@dpsnc.net.
