Ensuring that current and future facilities meet the needs of our students and our community is essential.  Durham Public Schools’ Building Services oversees the long-term planning, development, construction of new facilities, and the renovation of current DPS schools and administrative buildings. DPS is focused on creating and maintaining learning environments that spark creativity and foster academic achievement while providing sound strategies that guide sustainable infrastructure.  

Our department is responsible for:

• Managing all capital projects for construction, renovation, and modernization of schools and support facilities
• Providing the infrastructure necessary to support these needs through strategic planning and asset management.
• Prioritizing and maintaining a database for facility improvements that can be used for critical maintenance and for future bond planning.
